Seneca River on October 14, 2012

Sunday’s paddle on the Seneca River from Mercer Park in Baldwinsville, on a beautiful autumn afternoon, with a temp of 70+. Taking to the water was Eric, Hugh, Roger and I. The center of attention was Roger’s new Pygmy Murrelet kayak which he built over the summer weighing in at 38 lbs. We met a few fishermen trying their luck one more time for the year, unfortunately the fish other ideas. The group ended up paddling about 8 miles, will have to check with Eric. We had the pleasure of viewing a few birds along the way and some great autumn colors as people were preparing their yards for the winter. Back at the launch Hugh decided to try Roger’s new kayak but as his entered the kayak he took one step and ended up filling his boot with water. After paddling the kayak Hugh commented that the kayak handles very well and he really liked it. Then it was off to Lock 24 for a bite on the deck catching the some of last rays of summer sun.
