Experienced Paddlers Only

The Tioughnioga River from Truxton to Cortland is a great trip for experienced paddlers. It is not recommended for beginners. The river is slow and meandering except for a few fairly smooth fast stretches and an exciting dam opening which may be portaged.

Directions: We will have to spot cars so we will meet at the Burger King parking lot at the Tully exit off of Rt. 81 (Exit 14) at 10:00 AM. The put in is on Rt. 13 just south of Truxton on right before the Rt. 91 bridge. The take-out is at Yaman Park in Cortland. Bring a lunch. Also, be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. The water is still cold. A spray skirt is recommended.

Please Note: Directions for each trip are provided to help people unfamiliar with the area to find the location of the trip. They are not meant to necessarily be the most direct route from your own location.
