Limekiln Lake Camp and Paddle
Labor Day Weekend

09/03-06/2010

We will be camping at Limekiln Lake beginning with a paddle on Friday for those who can arrive early.  The Friday paddlers will be paddling Seventh Lake and will meet at noon at the state boat launch on Route 28.  The plan is to go out to dinner Friday night.  If you do not wish to go out, then you are on your own.

We have planned a Saturday September 4th paddle from Blue Mountain Lake to Raquette Lake. The trip is about six hours of paddleing time (13 miles) but we must spot cars from Blue Mountian Lake to Golden Beach Park. We will need to meet by 9:00 am at the Inlet Fire Depatment at the corner of Route 28 and Limekiln Road. You will need to bring a set of wheels for a a small portage about .5 of a mile.

Other opportunities for recreating are nearby such as golf, hiking, bicycle riding, fishing, and (gasp!) shopping. Reservations need to be made ASAP through Reserve America Online. If you have not yet reserved a site, we will be staying in the area of campsite 105.  All food and beverages need to be brought by individuals. Be advised there is a bear-proof food locker provided at each campsite per the campground brochure. We have also planned a group dinner on Saturday night at campsite 94 (Rick and Cindy), so bring a dish to pass and any meat you want on the grill. The all-important evening group campfires are a highlight.  Continue to check back for more information.

Directions From Old Forge: North on Rt 28 through Inlet then turn right on Limekiln Lake Road, go for 1.5 miles then turn right at campground sign, a half mile to campground entrance booth.

Please Note: Directions for each trip are provided to help people unfamiliar with the area to find the location of the trip. They are not meant to necessarily be the most direct route from your own location.
