Cape Vincent
Camping/Biking/Kayaking Weekend

July 30 - August 1, 2010

This is a weekend that offers something new.  How about an international bicycle trip? We will be staying at Burnham Point State Park, which is a small quiet state park on 12E (right on the water)  just outside of Cape Vincent.   There will be kayaking options and also a bike trip across Wolfe Island, 8 flat miles one way to Kingston and return.  Two ferry rides are included in the bike trip along with some time to spend in Kingston.  The bike trip will be on Saturday, July 31st.

Wolfe Island Bike trip - on Sat, 7/30 we will meet at the Cape Vincent Ferry at 10:00 am.  The ferry is 4 miles from the campground, so you may bike there or take your car with the bike and park at the ferry.    Or you can drive up for the day and do this trip.   We will ride the US ferry ($1 per bike) to Wolfe Island, Canada and bike 8 flat miles to the Canadian ferry (free) and travel to downtown Kingston.  From there you can lock up your bike and walk around Kingston or ride your bike in the city.  There is lots to do like the farmers market, bike to see the fort or just explore. There is also a sightseeing bus that is very interesting.  I will be coming back in the late afternoon and you can come with me or just return on your own.  There will be a kayak option for that day or you can take your car to Kingston on the ferry.  Because of the nature of the waters in this area, the kayaking option is for experienced paddlers only.  Meals will be on your own and if you bring a bike a bike tube is a good idea.   Also be sure to bring your passport or enhanced driver's license.
